Who’s ready for back to school?!
I know I promised you guys some DIYs that you'll actually wear, so here's the first one! I wear sneakers basically every single day at school when I'm not wearng boots or booties. It just makes so much sense because you're walking all around campus all day every day and sneakers support your feet while keeping them comfortable. I remember freshman year when I tried to wear Jack Rogers and ballet flats all the time, and some people can do that (good for them!) but not me. Since I wear sneakers so often, I wanted a pair that no one else would have which is very difficult to do at a big school. I decided to embellish these black Adidas Superstars with some patches I found on Etsy, take a look at how they turned out!
All you need for this DIY is…
a cute pair of sneaks, some super cute patches, and glue!!
BUT if you read nothing else in this post, READ THIS!! I did NOT like the way this Tacky Glue worked with this particular DIY. I use Tacky Glue for so many other purposes that I thought it would work, but it turns out, as soon as the shoes dried, all of the patches popped right off. I ended up using Beacon Adhesives Fabric Glue which worked like magic! I've been wearing them so much and I have no complaints!
Now let's get into where I found these adorable patches!
Who doesn’t like personalized sneakers??
To step my game up a little more, of course I had to make them MINE. I ordered this name plate patch from Addie Recoy Designs and I had amazing customer service, the shop owner was so sweet! I also want to mention that if you're considering a similar craft or just want a size reference, I got the kids sized name plate instead of the adults!
On the same shoe, I used these awesome little quarter-sizedalien patches! They were from Joyce's Knitwear and the shop owner was so kind she gave me two for the price of one! I just love how they make the shoes feel so animated.
I also made use of this Pacman patch which I actually found on Amazon. I ordered this one a week or so after I got the rest of them because I stumbled across it and couldn't pass it up. These little guys make the shoes come to life and give them such a sense of character. Plus, I knew they'd be perfect to wrap around the heel.
I hope you enjoyed this post!
