Raise your hand if you love liquid lipstick!
I certainly do, I hopped on that trend train veryyyy quickly. The tricky thing about liquid lipsticks though is that they always look different applied than they do online or even in the store. I know they all come in clear tubes, but when they dry on your lips, they always because four shades darker or three shades lighter. I find this so frustrating because a lot of liquid lipsticks have a pretty price tag so if you don't like the one you purchased, you're out of luck. This is where ColourPop comes in so so clutch. ColoupPop Ultra Matte Lips are $6 a piece, so you can try five for the price of one Kylie Lip Kit! When I discovered these, I went a little crazy (as you can see), but now that I've had the chance to wear all of them I wanted to let you know my opinions and comparisons to some other liquid lipsticks I've tried.
Kylie Lip Kits ($17-$29), Anastasia Beverly Hills ($20), Stila ($24), NYX ($5.99-$6.99), and Colourpop ($6)
These are all the liquid lipsticks I've tried and there are a million more out there that I haven't gotten my hands on yet (I'm dying to try out Huda Beauty's!).
I put the price next to all of the brands as a point of reference so you can get an idea of what kind of quality you're paying for. Last week, my friend and I did an experiment and swatched all of these products next to each other and left the swatches on for 48 hours to see how they held up (not that anyone would keep a lipstick on for 48 hours, but it was for the sake of the experiment). The NYX Soft Matte Lip Creme rubbed off in a matter of hours. It was the only one that smudged, too, the rest of them held their place pretty well. However, I will mention that the NYX Liquid Suede may have held up better, I just don't own any of those so I don't know. The Anastasia and the Stila were pretty much exactly the same, so I guess there it's just a matter of which brand you're more loyal to and which offers the color(s) you're looking for. They were both great. The Kylie liquid lipstick of course won. I couldn't get that thing off my hand for four days. The color held up the entire time, it was super moisturizing, and, of course, it smelled amazing. None of the others really carried a sweet scent like that.
The ColourPop one surprised me. It really lasted long like the other more expensive brands and its color didn't fade or smudge. The only difference I really noticed was that it started to crack on my skin. It dried out the area of skin that it covered and the more I moved around my hand, the more little chunks of it would flake off. I've noticed this while wearing it, too, it definitely doesn't hold up like the others, but I think the variety of shades and the quality for that low of a price makes it worth it. (Just make sure to apply a chapstick or a few drops of oil to lock moisture into your lips before applying it!)
ColourPop offers the biggest variety of shades, which is awesome, but can also be intimidating. I went on the site thinking hmmm I need a new nude liquid lipstick...boy oh boy.... there were twenty. Honestly, with ColourPop, I would recommend trying out a bunch because they're so inexpensive and you can. That way, you're more likely to score something along the lines of what you were looking for.
I hope all of my beauty lovers found this post helpful!!
